TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
Surface Preparation
Concrete:
- Surface must be sound and have a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm²
- Must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants such as dust, oil, grease, old coatings, and curing agents
- Weak or dusty concrete must be removed
- Surface defects like pinholes, voids, cracks, and protrusions must be repaired and leveled
Steel:
- Same strength and cleanliness requirements as concrete
- For surfaces exposed to chemicals, abrasive blasting is required to remove rust, old coatings, and scale — at least 95% surface area must be properly treated
- For surfaces not exposed to chemicals, remove all rust, scale, or foreign materials to achieve a clean, gray-metal finish using approved tools
- Coating must be applied within 3 hours after surface preparation for all metal substrates
Moisture Check & Primer Application (if needed):
- Check surface moisture, relative humidity, and dew point before application
- If moisture < 5% → apply LQS Primer FS
- If moisture ≥ 5% → apply LQS Primer MB (moisture-tolerant primer)
Mixing Procedure:
- LQS Epoguard 400 is supplied as a two-component system:
- Part A: Base Resin
- Part B: Hardener
- Mix Part A thoroughly first
- Then add Part B and mix using a mechanical stirrer, moving the stirrer up and down to ensure complete blending
- Stir until the mixture is uniform, lump-free, and free of air bubbles or sediment
Coating Application:
- Apply using brush, roller, conventional sprayer, or airless spray
- Apply the first coat in one consistent direction
- Once the first coat has dried (typically within 24 hours), apply the second coat in a perpendicular direction
