Product information

PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

LIQASEAL THERMEX PRIMER is a water-based acrylic polymer primer designed for metal roofs and metal substrates. The product is developed to provide waterproofing and to enhance adhesion between the heat-reflective coating LQS THERMEX T200 and metal roof surfaces or other metal substrates.

LQS THERMEX PRIMER improves the overall durability of the coating system, protects against weathering, and enhances interlayer bonding, ensuring effective heat-reflective performance and long-term durability of the structure.

KEY ADVANTAGES

  • Easy application by brush, roller, or spray equipment.

  • Fast drying time.

  • High coverage and excellent adhesion.

  • Effective corrosion protection for metal surfaces.

  • Enhances bonding strength between the heat-reflective coating and metal substrates.

  • Assists in repairing damaged surfaces prior to application of the heat-reflective topcoat.

  • Performs effectively in high-humidity environments and areas prone to mould growth.

  • Low VOC content, safe for applicators and occupants.

APPLICATIONS

LQS THERMEX PRIMER is suitable for a wide range of construction applications, including:

  • Metal roofs, tiled roofs, walls, and roof terraces.

  • Residential buildings, factories, schools, hotels, hospitals, and retail facilities.

  • Warehouses, container storage areas, and wooden structures.

  • Water tanks and oil storage tanks.

  • Industrial livestock facilities and cold storage warehouses.

  • Oil pipelines and insulated piping systems.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Surface Preparation

Remove existing coatings by sanding or other mechanical methods. If water ponding is present on the surface prior to application, proper roof drainage or corrective measures must be implemented to eliminate standing water before coating.

Repair all punctures, open joints, and other defects using suitable repair materials to ensure a fully sealed surface.

Rusty metal surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and treated with a suitable anti-corrosion primer before applying the primer coat.

Important Notes

  • Do not apply on concrete or mortar substrates with moisture content exceeding 15% when measured using an electronic moisture meter.

  • Do not apply during rain, strong winds, or when ambient temperatures exceed 40°C.

  • Shield and isolate the application area using protective sheeting to prevent impact on surrounding areas.

  • Grooved joints or profiled blocks may increase surface area by 20–30% or more, thereby reducing theoretical coverage rates.

  • Monitor weather conditions carefully to plan suitable application schedules and avoid adverse conditions during application.

Application

Stir the product thoroughly before use.

Apply one coat evenly onto the surface using a brush or roller in accordance with the recommended coverage rate to achieve a uniform, pinhole-free film.

For spray application, apply one coat using a cross-spray technique. Spray back and forth to form a uniform, pinhole-free membrane. Ensure the spray gun is angled from a higher position relative to the surface to achieve the appropriate film thickness.

Allow the primer to dry completely before applying the heat-reflective topcoat.

Cleaning

Clean tools and equipment immediately after application. Cured material can only be removed by mechanical means.

All waste materials must be disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations.

APPLICATION NOTES

  • Thicker coating layers provide improved heat-reflective performance.

  • Do not apply on immature concrete (less than 28 days) or mortar less than 7 days old.

  • Reinforce junctions between floors and walls.

  • Do not apply during rain.

  • Optimum coating performance is achieved after 7 days.

  • Not suitable for areas subject to prolonged water immersion, such as water tanks.

HEALTH & SAFETY INFORMATION

Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and relevant safety documentation before use.
